Hormann RollMatic – Designed for convenience
Made from double skinned aluminium with a foam infill to provide insulating properties, the Hormann RollMatic is custom made to your space, meaning it can suit openings of any kind.
The roller shutter garage door was originally designed to be rear mounted on the back of your reveal, and the Hormann RollMatic is no different, giving a seamless frontwards appearance with only the curtain visible.
Like all roller doors, the Hormann Rollmatic allows you the space to park right up to the garage door, increasing the amount of available space on your driveway. The ceiling area of the garage remains clear, providing additional space for you to utilise.
Features of the Hormann RollMatic
The Hormann RollMatic is available as a manual or automated roller shutter.
The automated version is electronically operated through either a wall mounted push button or a remote control handset, and comes with 2 handsets as standard. An internal courtesy light is also provided and can be set to come on each time the door is operated, or can be operated independently.
The Hormann RollMatic has a couple of unique features. It was designed from the start to use Hörmann’s low voltage 24V DC motor, which is the same that is used in their Up & Over or Sectional Garage Door range. Because the Hörmann uses an external motor, the emergency manual override is easier to use than other roller doors and is operated by simply pulling a cord.

The RollMatic OD is made from double-skinned aluminium with foam infill, which provides insulation as well as strength. It only requires 60 mm of headroom, making it one of the most compact roller doors available.
The main difference is in how the door opens and how much space it needs.
- Roller doors open vertically and roll into a compact box above the opening. They are ideal when you have limited headroom or want to park close to the garage. Roller doors leave the ceiling area clear, which is useful for storage.
- Sectional doors also open vertically but slide back in sections along tracks under the ceiling. They usually offer better insulation than roller doors and can be made wider or taller for large garages.
Both options are secure, low-maintenance and can be automated. The best choice depends on how much space you have, how often you use your garage and whether insulation is a priority.
